Terms of Use

By using BackyardBirdAtlas, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Educational use

All content is provided for general educational purposes. It is not professional, veterinary, legal or wildlife rehabilitation advice. See our disclaimer.

The Bird ID Helper

The ID Helper filters a short educational list based on what you enter. It does not identify birds with certainty, and results may be incomplete or wrong for your region or season. Always confirm with a trusted field guide or experienced local birders.

Responsible birding

Please observe birds respectfully: do not disturb nests, follow local laws and property rules, and contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator for injured birds. Native birds, nests and eggs are protected under federal law.
